Reset iPod – A How To Guide

Do you have a frozen ipod? Does your iPod not turn on or not sync to your computer? Before you freak out, there’s a simple iPod reset you can try to get your iPod up and running again. No, this won’t work in all cases, but it’s the first thing to try before you start going into the guts of the iPod to diagnose a problem.

How To Reset iPod with Clickwheel

*The clickwheel models include the iPod Nano, iPod Classic, iPod Video (5th Generation), iPod 4th Generation, and the iPod Mini.

1.) If your iPod is connected to a computer, disconnect it.
2.) Move the hold switch to the hold position and then back to the original position.
3.) Press and hold the select button and the menu button at the same time until the Apple logo appears.(Usually about 4-6 seconds.)
4.) The iPod will now reset and reboot back into the main menu.

How To Reset iPod with Scroll Wheel

1.) If your iPod is connected to a computer, disconnect it.
2.) Move the hold switch to the hold position and then back to the original position.
3.) Press and hold the play button and the menu button at the same time until the Apple logo appears. (Usually about 4-6 seconds.)

If your iPod still will not sync to a computer, try these additional steps.

1.) Try another USB port on your computer.
2.) Restart your computer.
3.) If you don’t already have it, download the latest version of iTunes.

    What about the iPod Shuffles (All 4 generations)? I have te first generation, and it has the same above listed problems.
