Description: This is the video manual for the 4th generation iPod. It originally came in 20GB and 40GB models and had a black and white screen. It was later modified for the iPod Photo and iPod Color but remained the 4th generation.

Oh wow , thank you so much. I had dropped my ipod, and it the hard drive had come off. Couldn't figure out how to put it back together. So thanks!

@markus - i'm not sure what you mean exactly. You are trying to copy songs over to your iPod and it gets that error or are you trying to play the songs on your ipod? I'd try a restore first to rule out a software issue.

my ipod 4th gen keeps getting error problems such as saying that it cant find song files even though i have all the songs on my comp what should i do?

@rebecca-mine did the same thing, smack the right side of it against your right palm, and it should turn right back on. apparently there's a problem with the hard drive arm inside getting stuck and doing this unsticks it. hope this helps!

@rebecca - that is typically a hard drive issue. It can be corrupt, disconnected inside, or dead. try restoring it in itunes first.

@Dave - the 40GB drives were slightly thicker than the 20GBs, so you'll usually need to replace the back case as well.

@salinko - that is typically a problem finding the operating system. your hard drive could be corrupt or dead or even a logic board problem. I'd try to sync it up to your computer first and do a restore. If it won't get that far, you can try putting it into disk mode and see if your computer can see it. After that, it probably needs a new hard drive.

when i on my ipod, it displays the apple sign and after some few seconds it displays www.apple.com/support/ipod... what do i do??

i ripped the connctor off the logic board when peeling off the black tape, can i replace it?

@monkey boy - no, the ipod hard drives are 1.8 inch compared to laptop 2.5 inch and they have a different connection.
