How it Works
The process begins by us shipping you a box to ship your Mac hard drive, iPhone, or iPod to us and you telling us what files you need off the drive. Once the hard drive arrives at our facility we will try an in house data recovery which is successful in 85% of cases. We'll then put the recovered data on a free thumb drive and ship the data and hard drive back to you.
If the hard drive has not been removed from your machine, you can also ship your entire unit to us for the data recovery service. For more info on this option, call us at 1-866-726-3342, option 2.
Data Recovery Pricing
If we can recover the files you specify you are looking for, the cost for up to 8GB of file recovery is a flat $99. (This pricing includes the service, free 3 way Ground shipping, and an 8GB thumb drive.) If we can not recover the specific files you are looking for then we can either return the drive with no files for no charge, or you can have us recover the files we are able to (up to 8GB) for a reduced fee of $74. If you need greater than 8GB of data recovered, the fee is $1 per GB. (This fee is only to cover the cost of the storage device to put the recovered files on. If you have a 2nd drive, you can send that with the hard drive and this $1 per GB fee would be waived.)
Why is your pricing so good?
In about 85% of cases we've seen, data can be recovered from a drive without the use of a clean room facility. A clean room facility is usually only necessary if your drive is physically damaged or no longer spins. Most data recovery centers charge you a fee of $400-$2700 to have the drive analyzed in a clean room environment. If you can get the data off a drive without using a clean room, then the cost for data recovery is substantially reduced.
What if you can't recover my data?
We can recover data in 85% of cases in house. If your hard drive spins, then most likely we can get data off the drive. If the drive is damaged or no longer spins, then data recovery may be more difficult. In these cases, we can send the drive to our specialized data recovery partner for a free quote. Typically if a drive has to go beyond us, the data recovery fee ranges from $399 to $2700.
Can you recover deleted files?
In most cases, we can recover recently deleted files, or even files from formatted hard drives. If you have recently deleted a file, the best course of action is to stop using the drive immediately and have the file recovered as soon as possible. Writing new data to the hard drive decreases the chances that a deleted file can be recovered. Depending on the circumstances, some deleted files may only be partially recoverable. For example, some image files may only be able to recover poritons of the image, and not the complete image.
Another note about recovering deleted files is that when a file is deleted in OSX, it deletes the file name or folder name. Therefore, it makes it impossible to retrieve data by filename, and therefore we can recover data by file type. For example, we can recover deleted files with .doc, .jpg, .gif, .mpg, etc...but not by the name children.jpg. If you're looking for a specific deleted file, we can establish a remote connection with one of our data recovery machines for you to identify the data you would like recovered.
