No doubt the tech taking apart the iPod Touch could do with a rusty snow shovel. I tried it using a putty knife like he did and destroyed the touch screen logic board connector. Wrong tool unless you've done it many times. Very poorly done.

@emily - what happens when you connect it to iTunes and try to restore it to factory defaults? If it fails or is not detected by your computer, it is most likely a damaged logic board.

my iPod touch with model number a1318 was submerged in water several years back. It can still turn on and screen touch sensitivity still works, it just says iPod disabled and to connect to iTunes. Can it be fixed several years later?

@Nick - it shouldn't be too hard. I haven't known batteries to move on their own or bite. So just get a cage and throw it in there.

My ipod 3is stuck on the screen to hook up to itunes after my son reset it???

Thanks I'll try it

Powerbook Medic

@Kaylin - I would see if you can plug it up to your computer, see if iTunes recognizes, and restore it. If you can't, we've at least ruled out a software issue, and it is most likely the logic board.

Hey, I have a iPod touch model no. A1318 and all it does is a grey screen...it makes noises and says voice over on, and voice over off... that's all! What can I do to fix it?

Powerbook Medic

@Randi - i would try putting the ipod into DFU mode and see if you can restore it through iTunes. This will delete all of your music, so make sure you have it all backed up.

@chris - major issues like that typically end up being the logic board.

@stan - sounds like it'll probably end up being a logic board issue.

My grandson drooled on my iPod touch 3rd gen. I wiped the drool off and put it on a docking station. Later I found the touch screen wasn't working but after a few tries it started to work. I can plug it into my iMac and sync but the wifi does not work now. It does not recognize any network. Did a restore but nothing. I'm thinking this is a hardware problem. Can you help please. Thank you

@ Catherine - You'll likely need to replace the logic board.

Hi, I think my Ipod Touch short circuit-ed while I was charging it, not it won't turn on and Apple won't repair it. What could I replace in order for my Ipod Touch to work again?

Powerbook Medic

@ShaqJ - I would try DFU mode if you haven't yet and do a restore. You can find out how to do that with a simple google search. If that doesn't work, you most likely need a new logic board.

My ipod 3g touch stopped working 2 years ago. The only thing it does is stay on the screen with apple on it. The computer doesn"t even recognize it. It also goes the screen when the battery is dead then it like charges for a little the apple just pops back up and thats it. Please help me!

@bryon - the headphone module is soldered onto the logic board.

my headphone jack needed replacement, it looked as if it was glued to the board so I carefully pulled it off. I have a new one I'm trying to put in but I don't know how to attach it. Can I just use superglue or do I have to solder or what? Plz help!

Powerbook Medic

@pritchjf - it depends on the extent of the damage. it may just need a new touch panel, but it could be more severe and need a logic board

My daughters ipod touch got wet. It comes on but the touch screen does not work. What do you think can be done for it.

Powerbook Medic

@Shaun - yes, there shouldn't be a difference between logic boards internationally.

My ipod touch 3g was completely submerged in water for about 2 secs. I got it out of the water and it worked fine until I tried to charge it and the computer and ipod wouldn't register it had been plugged in. it ran out of battery power and never turned on again. That was a year ago i'm pretty sure it's dry now but it still won't sync... please help.

Powerbook Medic

@JUNI - most likely. the connector on the logic board could be damaged.

My A1318 is not responding to touch I replaced the Lcd and Digitizer screen, restored the device and it still is not working. It turns on fine. The home , volume and sleep button work perfectly, even the speakers. Is it just the digitizer connector ? How do i fix? please help.

@joe - if the dock connector is damaged, you'll need a new logic board which are very pricey.
