Post subject: CD won't mount in my Lombard module IDEAS?? PLEASE
Posted: Mon May 10, 2004 5:55 pm
I'm using the Bronze (333 sys 9.2.1) on the road with a CD in the drive. It spins on insertion for a minute but doesn't mount.
It's a 24x CD-ROM Module Model # M7388 (MKE #CR-175)
(It stops spinning after a minute.)
It has mounted faithfully for six years but now, on insertion. It just makes a short "buzz..whine...buzz whine...buzz whine " and then stops. Occasionally, it will mount a disc, about once in every 15 attempts.
I've cleaned the little laser glass to no avail.
Is this a software or hardware issue? If it's hardware, is it worth it to replace the module at about $275? Any cheaper path?
The book is a rock solid product with no troubles at all...ever and now it's getting cranky with this CD player. I'd like to sell it but want a working CD in it for that purpose.
It is a problem with the drive itself. Drive failure is very common. For replacement you have several options. Click on the link below to see the drives we offer.
