I have two problems with my G3 Powerbook Lombard. The first is a problem with the display. For about 6 months I have been experiencing various colored horizontal lines or a blury display. With some nursing, and moving the display to the right angle, I could get it to work fine. However, after taking it out of the house (in the cold) I can barely get it to work. I suspect a crack in the video data cable that has finally broken (nearly) all the way.

I also have problems getting the battery to charge and getting power to the machine. If I push up on the the adapter plug - where it inserts into the machine - it starts up fine and if kept pushed up - now by a tic tac box, I can put it to sleep and get it back fine. However, if I stop pushing the adapter up, and the power goes out, I have to reset the PRAM to get it running again. I am thinking this problem is a bad power card and perhaps the PRAM battery.

I'd like to get the parts to fix this but want to order the right ones, and don't want to order too much. Any help?

I had the same problem with the power adapter, having to position it with something until the powerbook accepted the external power. The fix was taking it into the Apple store and having the broken or loose wire connection repaired (soldered) at a cost of $75 something that I wasn't able to perform. If you have a way to open up the powerbook to the rear of the hard drive bay you might visually see if you can see if the soldered wire is in question, most likely. Note this inspection requires you open up the powerbook to the upper case removal!
The video is an average replacement part and if you can see that the interface is cracked it is the problem (cold or hot) it's called the display inverter board

The display issue is most likely your display cable, and the power issue is your Sound / AC (DC-IN) board. You can solder this piece back on, but it is reccomended to change the entire board as a solder won't usually fix the issue permanently.
