Post subject: Display Cable for Santa Rosa
PostPosted: Thu Dec 18, 2008 4:46 pm
I'm in the process of replacing the LCD to my 15in Macbook Pro. While disassembling the LCD I noticed that the display cable connects to both the LCD and the inverter, which controls the brightness. The part of the cable that connects to the inverter seems to be frayed at the end.

Where can I buy a replacement display cable? Powerbook Medic sells one but it is not compatible with with the Santa Rosa model of the Macbook Pro.

Any suggestions? Will I have to live with a dim screen?

The Santa Rosa uses an LED backlight so it works a little different from previous models. Backlight problems are usually either the LED driver board, the panel itself, or the Magsafe board which powers the LED.

From what we've seen, the magsafe board is most likely the culprit.
