my ibook g4 has stopped charging the battery. i know it isn't actually a battery issue as it won't even work if the battery is removed and the power cord remains plugged in. everything is backed up, because the machine works fine with a charged battery.
a few months ago, for reasons that do not need to be explored at this time, there was a moderate quantity of melted butter spilled on the machine. there were some immediate issues resulting from this, and i had to replace the keyboard. now, i've pretty much come to the conclusion that the butter has been heating up and seeping further into the machine, and has finally shorted out the power-source.
can i replace it? is it at all easy to do so? is it expensive to do so? i don't mind a challenge, and would be happy to attempt it myself. in the mean-time, i am using an emac and crying at the processor speed.
