@Danny - you'll have to take off the back case and see what is broken. If it is just the external button you'll need a new back case. If the physical button on the logic board is broken, you'll have to replace that.

@Chelsey - not really. replace the motherboard or buy a new iPod.

My A1137 registers in my computer, but every time I try to restore it, it still tells me it's in recovery mode and won't work. I tried to reset it, still nothing. Is there anything else I can do?

@Ranson - if your laptop is not detecting your ipod, it could be the cable or the motherboard.

I have ipod Model No.a1137 Serial No.6U342EZYVQK When I connect to my Laptop, it's not accepted may be software proble. ipod do't open. Please guide me. I appreciate your assistance. Thanks Ranson Almeida

@Sophat - you'll most likely need to restore the iPod in iTunes.

@juan - i would try a new cable first. 3rd party cables can cause trouble.. so I would try to use an Apple one if possible. Besides that there may be a short in your dock connector which would require a new logic board.

I would suggest a HOT soldering iron may be beneficial.

@tej - if the screen comes on and you just can't control it, you may just need the clickwheel assembly replaced. If it isn't turning on, it could be a more severe issue such as the logic board.
