no osx cd or install

I cant get my ibook to run OSX.2
Ive tried to install it but it will not start from the disc it hangs at the apple logo
Even when i insert the cd using 9.2 hit the restart button it does the same thing
Ive even pulled out the HD and installed it into an external case, installed X from my imac put it back in starts up nearly till the dock loads but the I get a dim screen with a warning to restart my computer.

Ive had this problem though

320 ram
6g 4.7 available

Firmware update from X disc
reset nv ram
zapped pram
any ideas

The iBooks are picky machines, and will only install and run OSX from certain versions of the install cds. Do you have the retail version of Jaguar, or are you using the startup cd from another computer?

i have a copy of an update witch i have removed the look for x
I have had no probs installing it on my imac 450 and g4 PM but not on ibook
how can i tell witch version cd i have

Did the CD come with your G4? If so that is your problem. The iBook will only install the retail version, not a version that came with a computer.
