Post subject: Pismo will not start without reset
PostPosted: Tue Sep 16, 2003 7:41 am
My Pismo will not start up unless I hit the reset button. I need to replace my pram battery as the clock/date do not hold but otherwise the machine runs perfectly. Is this a cache problem?

It's hard to say, but most likely you are looking at either the processor or the PMU board. I'd start with the PMU (Power / Charger board)

Bradley,

The battery charges normally and the trackpad works just fine - once restarted the computer runs normally. I am confused as to why the PMU board would be the problem?

thanks for your suggestions - great website btw!

9 times out of 10 it will be the procesesor. Once in a while though the PMU needs replacement. It is the cheaper alternative, so many people prefer to start with that.
