I recently purchased the extra drive bay with drive to replace my optical drive. After going through all the steps (and upgrading to snow leopard) my macbook pro now will not read my airport. No airport option shows up in the menu bar or network preferences. System profiler says this about it:

Software Versions:
Menu Extra: 6.2.1 (621.1)
configd plug-in: 6.2.4 (624.2)
System Profiler: 6.0 (600.9)
Network Preference: 6.2.1 (621.1)
AirPort Utility: 5.5.2 (552.11)
IO80211 Family: 3.1.4 (314.1.1)

Any thoughts? All the connections that I undid are in place. Maybe something jiggled somewhere?

If it is not detecting the card at all, that means the card isn't seated well. Just open it back up and reseat it. It won't have anything to do with the antenna wires either.

I'm not exactly sure which is the airport card. Is it not buried up in the display? Do you mean reseat the card itself or some connection somewhere? Thanks.

Ya, after some research, I only see the Bluetooth card. I have an anti-glare a1286 model.

OK, fixed. In the A1286 matte screen model, the airport card is in the hinge. Somehow when moving the wires out of the way to remove the optical drive, the connection to the airport card was jiggled and not seated properly as you suggested.

Thanks for the help. Loving running two hard drives in my macbook pro.
