i just recently bought a new battery for my ibook and the new battery has stopped recharging. My original battery still charges fine is it the battery or is it software?i have tried resetting the pmu but no effect.

If another battery charges fine, it is most likely the battery. You may want to make sure the contacts are clean, but other than that, it is probably a faulty battery.
