Post subject: Parts for surgery of Narcoleptic PowerBook Posted: Thu Dec 13, 2007 7:42 am |

My G4 PowerBook caught the narcoleptic bug last night. The common
solution seems to be either the kernel fix or to replace the top case.
Personally I would prefer changing the topcase rather then keep
dealing with this problem by hacking the kernel.
What is the best place to buy spare parts for your Mac. I checked eBay
and there are several shops, but I would prefer something more
reputable. Maybe Apple has a back door entrace for spare parts. I
understand this is not for everyone, but seeing that it is out of
warranty and I am quite capable of doing this myself (I think).
Do you know if replacing the top-case includes the temperature sensor or if I would require a new logic board as well.
My PowerBook is a : 17" 1.6Ghz G4 (PowerBook 5.7) build in Sept 2005.
Could you please email me a list of parts required as well a their price.
Kind regards.
Alex

You can purchase replacement parts from our online store. There is a temperature sensor on the top case of the 1.67.
