What size phillips screwdrivers are needed to extract the mounting screws , and what is the dried green stuff on the ends of the screws on the top? Is there a solvent suitable for releasing these screws? Any other techniques that you recommend?

If you are trying to remove the drive from the caddy, then you only need to remove the black size #00 Philips head screws from either side of the expansion bay. There are 4 screws in total.
