VGA PB550 - Gray Screen

Hi,

I am trying to determine which part on my PB needs fixing/replacement. The computer chimes and boots fine. When it boots the screen comes on gray, flashes black once, then stays gray. Mirroring displays with an external display I am able to use the computer, but I would like to make the PB portable again. Also, the brightness controls, F1 & F2 don't change anything.

Anyone have any thoughts about whether its the display itself or the inverter board?

Dan,

If you've got a white screen, that means your inverter is fine. If it works on an external monitor, that signifies your logic board is likely ok. So the problem is likely the display itself, and you will need to replace that part.
