Please forgive me if this has been covered---is there an upgrade LCD (hi-res) available for the earlier 17" AI PB? Please advise if anyone knows!

Not that I'm aware of. If you do find one, let us know and we'll be sure to stock it. We do carry stock replacement LCDs for this model at the link below:
