 Post subject: Pink Backlight cable broken--can it be replaced or repaired?

Hello, the pink backlight cable is broken right next to where it joins the display. When it broke, the screen went dim but you can still see what is on the display faintly with an external light shining on it. Is this pink cable replaceable? or is the only solution to buy a new display? I hope not, because that would be quite expensive. Thanks, Brett
