Post subject: Powerbook duo power up question Posted: Thu Apr 15, 2004 9:11 pm |

I inherited a powerbook duo that will not boot up. I was wondering; if the PRAM battery is dead, would that prevent the machine from starting up? I tried starting the machine up with a powerbook 1400 ac adapter but it didn't work. I opened the machine and disconnected (and then reconnected) the PRAM battery wire from the logic board. That didn't seem to work either. I even removed the main battery and tried starting it up without the main battery. any suggestion? thanks

The lack of PRAM should not prevent a boot. I have booted several duos without PRAM batts.
Do you hear _anything_ when you boot ?
Which duo do you have ?

The lack of a PRAM battery and/or dead PRAM Battery WILL prevent a Duo 280 from booting.
