I have a powerbook 3400c 240mHz. There is a resistor blown out. Can I have the logic board replaced and use the original 240mHz processor on the new logic board?

If memory serves me correctly, the processor is built into the logic board on your modem, so you have to replace the logic board...I'd just buy a uesd board on eBay...you don't want to processor swap.

Since it is much harder to find a PB 3400c/240mHz motehrboard, is it possible to replace the blown 240mHz motheboard with an 180mHz motherboard and replace the 180mHz processor with the 240Mhz processor from the blown motherboard? If it is possible, is it a complicate procedure? Thank you very much for your advice.

It isn't as easy as swapping the processor, so no you would need a logic board. I'd try to find a complete but broken unit on eBay, and swap the motherboard.

If you now which part is blown out, just replace it. Most SMT components are easily swapped out if you are handy with an iron.
