I have had my I-Mac since 2004 and it has been working just fine until last week. It wouldn't boot up last week until I had waited a few hours. When I shut it down, I can no longer boot it up. If I tilt the Mac side to side or back and forth, it makes a noise similar to a car starting that has a dead battery. Any ideas?

Grinding noises are typically hard drive failures. You will probably have to purchase a new hard drive and reinstall the OS.
