G4 powerbook internal clicking sound, screen freezes. help!

I have a G4 667 and a couple of months ago it started intermittently clicking internally. then after about 10 min. the screen froze and i had to hold the power butto down and turn it off. it powerd back up after a rest but did it again later that day. the next day it was fine and didn't do it till yesterday about a month later. any ideas?

Where exactly does the clicking come from? Usually clicking is a hard drive issue. The hard drive in a titanium is located immediately underneath the trackpad, so see if you hear a clicking from that location. You can also run disk utility to see if it spits out any errors. You'll likely need to replace the drive.

thanks I do think it's coming from under the track pad. the crazy think is I let it set for a couple of days and it hasn't done it today at all. Is this normal? did it get too hot the other day? I don't know.

A hard drive can click one day and then not click for a while and then resume clicking. Clicking is a precursor to failure, so you want to make sure you backup your data frequently, and change the drive when you are able to.
