I get a sad mac face when I try to boot up. I have tried using system floppy disk to start up and system cd disk, but both do not work. I get a message that says 0000000f-00007fff. What can I do to start this thing up? If you can please send me an email at guidetothebrain@yahoo.com

The sad mac can mean several things on the older macs including ram or rom failures etc...you should be able to find a listing of the error codes on some website out there and diagnose the exact problem.

I bought a Powerbook 520 for £5 (UK) at a boot fair yesterday. It still works and it has some decent software installed. But I can't work out how to turn the backlight on. Maybe I'm being stupid and it's just broken but I was wondering if I was just missing a setting on the it?

Any help greatly appreciated.

There isn't a way to turn the backlight on. It either works or it is broken.

D'oh. I had a horrible feeling that was going to be the case. Looks like this macs going to the great apple store in the sky. Thanks for the advice.

I have had an odd power/charging problem recently. Even though the charger is plugged in, the indicator on the Control Strip tells me that the battery is on the "trickle" rate of charge.

I have zapped the PRAM, I have reset the Power Manager. Nothing seems to work. Do either, or even BOTH need to be replaced?

if i have a hitachi drive and install a blaster360 and buy a x360 would i be able to flash easy with my laptop? or is this setup not any good?

I haven't had any problems with my new powerbook but the old powerbook gives me serious problems..Its like the screen doesn't stay in place.. it just fells down..
