Post subject: Adding DVD-R to 500 mHz G4 Powerbook Posted: Fri Sep 05, 2003 8:49 pm |

Is it possible to upgrade the CD/DVD drive in the older G4 TI powerbooks by adding in the DVD-R drive?
I know the specifications say that it's only for 550mHz and up computers, but maybe there is a workaround?
Thanks

There is a workaround for the CDRW. You have to get a special mounting bracket which we don't sell at the current time. I'm not sure about Superdrive though.

We are now offering the MCE upgrade drives and upgrade. There is a 3-4 week backorder on the drives though.

I just installed a Superdrive (same model as used in some PBG4s) in my G3 Lombard.
