I recently moved from the yoyo adapter to the white apple adapter and noticed that at first it was not turning green all the time, I would fiddle with it and it would turn to green then yellow to start charging.... recently (over about a month) it has started to stay in the dark orange mode and it is hard to get it to stay green or yellow..... to get it to catch, I have to physcially push the cord into the jack pretty hard to get a yellow light to charge... does anyone have any suggestions.... i looked inside and it seems that the input is a little far away from the outside, maybe it is too far back, is that possible? Thanks...

It sounds like either the end of your cord is damaged, or the actual DC in port on your logic board is damaged.

if the DC in port is damaged... replace the logic board?
