Post subject: dvd-r only takes apple media? Posted: Tue Sep 02, 2003 11:42 am |

ok so i've had a G4 1ghz 15in since about december and it used to take these cheap k hypermedia dvd-r but seems to have quit. I have a 10 pack I don't seem able to use now, and I get a media sense key error every time. I finally tried using the apple dvd that came with my computer and it worked fine. Any ideas? I'm thinking about picking up some apple discs to back up my system and reinstall.

I don't know all the specifics. I use generic media, and it works fine. There is a difference between the DVD-R+ and DVD-R-. I'm not positive which the titanium uses, but I'm pretty sure it is +.

Nope, the TiBook 1GHz SuperDrive won't do CD+R. My drive is a Matshita UJ-815 upgraded to a UJ-815A's capabilities thanks to a patch I found at xlr8yourmac.com. Now I can burn DVDs at 2X. I've read the new 15" AlBook won't do + either. Apple's sticking to -, apparently.
