Post subject: G4 550 mhz Titanium and Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160 gig  Posted: Wed Nov 12, 2008 9:27 am |

Greeting
I was given a Titanium 550 mhz with bad hinges. Fixed the hinges and then the hard drive started to have problems. Installed a new Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160 gig, reinstalled OS 9 with no trouble, then during the OSx 10.3 install, the installation quit just after starting to install Essential Software. I had set up 2 partitions (100.3 and the rest on the second) and still the installation quit at the same point. Any suggestion would be help full.

It is hard to say. Usually that means its a scratched up disk or an incompatible one. If it is a restore disk not for that specific machine, it may not work.
