I am taking on the task of installing a new hard drive into my Powerbook. I'm not worried about the mechanics of actually putting in a new hard drive, I'm much more worried about reinstalling all of the information that is now on the old HD. I have an external 250 gig Lacie drive that I'll do a complete back up to before starting the procedure, but how do I get the data back onto the new drive? Will I need my original install disk that came with the computer (unfortunately 1500 miles away)? Help, I'm leaving the US for Ireland in a week and need to have this finished and working by then...
Thanks for your help in advance,
Hans

We use a program called Carbon Copy Cloner, it will make an exact copy of your old drive over to the new one.
It is a free download.
