Hi
I own a titanium powerbook 1 GHz 15" and its left hinge broke.
Is ist true I have to replace both of my hinges as suggested after service since the system of the new available steel-hinges is different from the original?
Is it true i cant use the hinges of my friend“s old titanium powerbook (400 Mhz)?
Who can help before I order unnecessary parts?

You can replace a single hinge at a time. You could also technically use the hignes from your friends Titanium. The problem with both of these is that you'll sftill have the original hinges in the machine which are certain to fail on you. If you are going to replace your hinges, it is best to replace both at the same time with our replacement STEEL hinges.

I agree that both need to be replaced at the same time. My right hinge cracked, and I continued using my tiBook hoping the left would not crack. No suck luck, the other cracked within a few days.
