OK So I fixed the power problem, but now my comp is crashing. I replaced a couple of things and niether of them fixed it and it turned out that it was the power cord! Whoops, should have done that first I guess. Now the problem is that sometimes (ok all the time) when the computer is running, it will lock up and give me messages in white text on a black background on top of the desktop. It looks really bad and was wondering if mabey I messed something up while removing the motherboard or if I might not have plugged something in.
I thought it might be a software issue so we reformatted the hard drive and then it just locked up completely!
Anyone know what I should try next would be appreciated. Thanks.

Kernel panics like the one you described (white text on black background) are usually a problem with the logic board and since it locked up after a reformat of the hard drive it is not going to be a software issue.
