I have a Powerbook g4 Gigabit ethernet machine (667 mhz). I just replaced the original battery with a newer Technology 4800. While charging it my charger color kept switching between dim green to amber. As this was happening, the screen was dimming and Xbattery utility window kept changing, saying that it was charging/not charging/adapter was plugged/not plugged in etc. During this switching, which was happening most frequently when the computer was being used, a sound coming from inside the computer could be heard, like power switiching on and off. I reset the Pram and reset the PMU. The problem happens with the least frequency when the computer is sleeping. Also, I can't run the computer without a battery installed. The adapter is an original apple unit and seems to work on other powerbooks.
