My Titanuim G4 laptop shuts down frequently when plugged in. When i re-boot, I need to reset the date and time. Is this the PRAM battery that needs to be replaced even though the shut downs occur when the computer is plugged in?

Check your power adapter or clamshell. Mine did the same thing untill I just happened to look at the cord running from my clamshel to the wall and noticed right above the connector sparking one night. At closer examination there was a short I could see under the protective jacket.
But from what I understand if your losing your date and time your pram also needs to be replaced. If you have a TI550 I think the PRAM is also the power management board so you will have to replace that entire component.
Just a little help. THe medic doesn't seem to answer much any more these days.
