powerbook 500,white lines on screen, no speaker and noisy dv

Just got a powerbook 500 for $300, the only problem is that there is those white line from top to bottom of the screen(one very thin and a other one pretty bigline).the guy I bought it from said that it was coming from the screen. I tried to play a DVD and the drive make a wirld sound, like a piece of paper rateling?? the speaker does not work too. what do you think it is or what did this? and how mush that will coast?

Your display needs to be replaced or you need to get someone to try to change out just the LCD cable. Also, your drive is probably defective. Replacement drives and upgrades are available from our online store. As for the speaker, that would need replacement. The part comes as part of the trackpad and trim assembly. All in all you'd need a lot done to the unit.

I have the same problem...okay, the line is green rather than white.

Can a DIY replace the LCD cable using parts purchased here?

Getting into the displays is very tricky on the Titanium, and even trickier if your hinges aren't broken. It is possible though, and we do sell the parts for the repair.

I have a Ti 400, only I have a red line going up and down about a 1/4 of the way across on the left side. I have noticed that I lightly pull in on the left side the line goes away. Would my problem be the same as this and can I fix it myself?
