 Post subject: Replacing the intergrated touch pad

Can anyone tell me whats involved in replacing or repairing a bad touch pad on the clamshell I books? :?:

Not a big problem. Take the keyboard off, disconnect the trackpad cable. 6 screws to get the trackpad cover off, It is right there, 1 grounding screw and you may have to pull the metal guard off t get to the plug. Be very careful here. This is where you could mess up. It isn't that hard though. It'll probabally get your to quicken. You really don't want to completely remove the metal guard covering the motherboard. These babies are real jigsaw puzzles. NO DISTRACTIONS. Some not so mechanically inclined have destroyed it right here. I like to buy their good parts on ebay. I just started the Ibook I am using an hour ago. I built it from parts purchased on Ebay. $300 for all. You either need to be skilled or have an extra helping of of balls. Good luck, I hope I have been helpful.

Oops I explained how to get to the mouse clicker sw/charge board. It's a little easier to replace the Trackpad Panel.Have a good one
