the modem port on my graphite ibook SE is loose, causing my dial-up connection to constantly bump me off the internet. i spoke with apple here in memphis and they quoted me a cost of $310-$360 to get this problem fixed and i think that rather excessive.
is this something where i can purchase the part(s) and manual and simply 'do it myself?' and avoid the over $300 cost?
please advise... and thank you.

Yes they are fairly easy to install.
Check ebay there is one right now for $3.25US 1 day and some hrs to go
