I just bought a Graphite 366 Clamshell. It came with a 128meg chip. I too had read about adding more then the 256 that Apple says is the max allowed. NOT SO! I bought a 512meg chip from one of the Apple dealers in Calgary AB Canada and it works fine, so my ibook says that I have 576meg or so. This is the same memory card for the new ibooks and in fact is the same used for most portable computers including pc's.
Makes a big difference in speed from what I can tell, everything just seems more snappy!
