 Post subject: iBook CD drive problems

Hi- I have a clamshell iBook-300MhZ/30 Gig HD/544 RAM- running OS 10.2.6. The CD drive reads original CD's almost allthe time but hardly reads burned cd's at all. Brand doesn't seem to matter. Any ideas? Clean/lubricate drive? Repair/replace?

It most likely is a problem with your drive and the laser in the drive failing. It's a common problem with the Clamshell. A replacement drive should fix the problem. It could possibly be a problem with OSX on the clamshell as well. The clamshell and OSX run into compatibility problems sometimes.
