 Post subject: logic board replacement

Hello,
The logic board in my Indigo 366 is shot, and I am wondering if I can replace it with a 466 board ?
Thanks for info on any successes with this replacement.

No the cases will not work with a 466 main logic board. The 466mhz has a firewire port that yours does not. Not sure what other little changes they made either outside of more ram (64meg) on the main board, a large hd and a dvd drive.

At the very least you would have to get the bottom case along with the logic board then a complete disassembly..... not for the faint of heart :)

Thanks for the reply Larry,
My 366 is the Indigo with firewire, sorry I didn't mention that. It has 64 meg ram on soldered on the board too. Still think the 466 won't work?
I appreciate your thoughts and anyone else that has done a replacement.

OK it should work then..... I think the only difference between the g3 366 (firewire) and the g3 466 is that it has been clocked. But then I can't say for sure :D

Thanks again Larry, Now the fun begins with a hunt for either the 366 or 466. eBay has had neither for the past couple of weeks, maybe soon.
If I learn anything with this replacement I will post again.
The local Apple service center wanted $545. to do this, Microdoc wants about $300. for a repair, not replacement, so I am going to give it a whirl.

I had a look at their site but very little information on it but $300 seems pretty reasonable. Wegener Media lists parts for the clamshells and a 366 main board with firewire is $375.

Good luck

Larry
