ibook G3 upgrade

Hey everyone, well Ihave an ibook G3 working on 500MHz and running with Mac OS 10.2. I decided to go ahead and purchase an airport card and a external cd burner, the problem is I don't know where or what kind to get. I was thinking about getting the new extreme card but then was told that it would not work with my ibook. Is this true? Secondly since apple does not sell cd burners I have no idea what brand is compatible with macs. So if someone can help me out in giving me advice that would be great. Thanks BYE
