It is most likely a logic board issue. It isn't a flag for anything down the road.

I am thinking about buying a similar iBook-
the specifics of the issue are that the iBook thinks it is plugged in to an external a/v source, so the internal speakers do not output sound, but the headphone (a/v multi) jack does.
Since the logic board is pretty much the only board in the iBook, that's obviously the source of the issue in some way.
I have been able to find this issue on the Apple boards, with no resolution. I don't really care about this problem but are you saying that it's not likely to affect anything else or spawn into other board problems?
Thanks!
joe
