OK, I have a white iBook it is the 2 usb port model, with like a 500 mhz processor, this computer has been in our family since new, and has been abused pretty badly, but has kept trucking along. Anyways, onto my problem my charger started doing the intermittent charging thing like the connection in the chord was going bad, so we replace the end of my charger. But after that, it just kept getting worse. Now, it won't work at all, the charger won't charge my computer, and I am thinking it is internal, but I don't know what it could be. So I am thinking instead of trying to fix my beat up laptop I am going to buy a used one with a bad screen and optical drive and swap those parts from my old laptop into the new one. But my question is, how had is it to swap lcd screens, and optical drives, and please don't ask me to buy the manual, I just want a on a scale of 1 to 10 how had it is to change the parts around.

If it isn't detecting any power adapter it is probably just the DC-IN Board. We sell it on our site for $50.

Our manuals are free as well if you want to see what is involved in replacing it. It isn't a horrible repair.

If you still want to buy the spare part machine, replacing the LCD is maybe a 2, but replacing the optical drive would bump it up to a 6.
