My power book showed some lines on screen, locked up and on restart hard drive spins, has a short montone tone, sleep light flashes a second or so and then dead. Tried booting from CD and same thing.

I purchased a external usb drive case, removed the drive, installed in case and plugged it into G4 Powerbook and drive doesn't even spin up. Drive light comes on. Since drive seemed to spin in puter it makes me wonder if something is wrong with usb external case. I'm out in sticks so not easy to borrow another external case.

I can't ship my computer with hard drive since I have sensitive data on the drive. Reason I pull drive in first place. Not much fun, but with instructions found online it is doable. If I had found your site first I would have purchased your manual.
