My son scraped what he called dirt from around the connector for the power cord on his macbook 13in. When he attached the power cord we got smoke and sparks from beside the the connector for the inverter board cable. Can anyone tell me what got fried? We had repaired a break in the inverter board cable.
Any help would be appreciated.

The connector where? If it is the logic board, most likely you'll have to replace the board. If it was in the hinges it may just be an inverter board.
