My son's mb 13in screen started having problems months back. Screen would go in and out. If you moved the display and found the right angle it would work. Now its completely dead. Its out of warranty. took it to apple authorized repair center and they want to replace the screen. but i found this thread that stated possibly replacing the inverter cable my fix this problem. please advise.

Is it just the backlight going out and you can still make out an image if you look real close or is it going completely black?
