just installed it....it doesnt read any disk, I can hear some funny music before it spills out inserted cd or dvd. At least my old one was reading cd's wasssup

you may want to try reseating the optical drive cable and check for any damage such as tears or crimps in the cable. If everything seems fine, I would try reinstalling your old drive and making sure it worked as it did before reading cds. If it still works, it is most likely a defective drive, and you can email or call in to customer support and setup an RMA to have the drive exchanged for a new one or for a refund.

if the old drive doesn't work, it is most likely some damage caused during installation such as the cable.
