Powerbook Pro 15" July 2006
Cracking noise and running hot to touch. Hard drive replaced. Running fan noise returned in 8wks. Display was BW upon startup and then to Color. NOW the display is completely Black.
The warranty was over in Aug 09.
I attached it to an ext monitor but saw nothing. Tried a flashlight to the display - saw nothing. Sounds like it is starting up fine.
Battery is dead so I have to plug it in.
Please advise

If there is no display at all, that is usually going to be the main logic board. I'd take it or send it in for professional diagnosis.
