This is a model from 2006, whenever I move the laptop I hear an odd clicking noise coming from the top left of the notebook. I'm not sure if it is coming from somewhere in the monitor joint or beneath the logic board, but it certainly isnt the hard drive and it is only when I move the system. Any ideas?

It could possibly be the left fan which is in that area. It may start to wobble when you move the machine causing it to make the extra noise.

Alright, I've actually got the MBP opened in order to replace both of the fans. I just removed the left one to test your theory, but the sound remains.
It sounds as though a screw or something is rattling about inside somewhere on the top left.

Hard to say in that case. Only thing you can do is go through all the screws and try to find any loose ones. Make sure they are all tight, and make sure none are missing.
