I replaced the LCD on my A1226 15" Macbook Pro this morning. Everything works fine, with the exception of the iSight, which is not recognized. I have a feeling its the thin cable that connects at the top, but im not sure if its the cable or the connector, or what to do about it. I've tried wiggling it around a bit, but I have yet to get the computer to recognize it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

It is going to be something with that thin cable or the connection at the top. Make sure you have the little plastic locking arm flipped up, gently push that cable in the connector as far as it will go and then lock it down. You can check the cable for any tears or damage if that doesn't fix it. It can be easy to damage the cable if you aren't careful when taking the old LCD out.

I have tried to reseat the thin cable several times, there does not seem to be any damage to it. The little black thing that flips up is cracked down the center. Also, the other cable that runs from the board to the iSight itself has a minor dimple in it. Are any of these parts replaceable?

Also, is it necessary to reboot for the iSight to be recognized?

Yes, you must reboot every time you try to plug it in.

Apple doesn't sell any of those parts separate, so your only choices are buying a complete display or finding a used one.

Thanks for the help. I bought a new bezel with a functional iSight. None of the cables or connectors seem to be damaged at all, yet its still not working. I guess I'm out of luck.
