My MacBook 17" pro screen will multicolored lines/bands and the background color will change different colors, blue-green red grey etc. This started 3 months ago occasionally on startup. By depressing the "P" ctrl command keys it subside and go away. Now it is happening on all startups and sometimes will gradually start doing it intermittently . Tilting the screen doesn't seem to have any effect to cause or eliminate the problem. Also external monitors are not affected. Any suggestions? Thanks Tom

That is usually a display cable or a logic board problem. With no change in tiliting helps rule out a cable problem but it working on an external display helps rule out the logic board. Neither test completely rules it out, but I would say it is probably the logic board. If it is still under warranty, I would take it in to Apple. If not, I would either take it somewhere or send it in for a diagnosis just to confirm what is wrong.
