Post subject: Macbook Pro 17'' backlight too dark Posted: Sun Jun 22, 2008 9:32 am |

After disassembling my MBP a couple of times for various reasons I ended up with the problem that the backlight at max is notably darker than it used to be. When I dim it down with the F1 key the backlight is completely off when I get down to 3 bars. That 3 bars seem to be missing "after" maximum. I then first exchanged the display panel (had another problem with the original one) but the backlight problem was still the same. I then also replaced the inverter board, but still got the same problem. The cable from the logic board seems to be alright (I used a line tester) and the cable between inverter and display panel was exchanged with panel.
Any suggestions? Thanks a lot! qgi

I'd probably try replacing the cable first just to be sure, because about all that is left is the logic board.
